Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Offices located across Cumbria 

We are currently seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established Construction company.

The Company:  
Reputable and dynamic business who are rapidly growing. They have several offices across Cumbria, and based on your current location, you would be able to work from one of their sites with occasional weekly meetings and visits required at their Head Office.

About the role:
Reporting into the Commercial Director and duties will include, 
  • Managing the financial administration and reporting of contracts as allocated by the Commercial Manager.
  • Measuring & valuing the progress of a contract on a monthly basis and producing the monthly project QS report and CVR.
  • Preparing and submitting interim applications for payment, under the main contract, to the employer’s representative on a periodic basis.
  • Preparing and submitting claims for additional time and payment
  • Preparing and pricing the Company’s response to contract variation requests by the Client, ensuring that if accepted, the appropriate documentation is put in place.
  • Develop an understanding of the Conditions of Contract for the project. Liaise with Contracts Manager and Site Manager and issue contractual letters to design team as required to record delays/revisions to the contract.
  • Analysing the content of subcontract quotations and negotiating and placing subcontract orders. Also includes processing interim applications for payment, following assessment of completed works.
  • Completing Subcontractor Approval Forms for authorisation when the subcontract order being placed is more than the tender value.
  • Preparing, substantiation, negotiating and agreeing the final account for the contract with the Employer’s Representative and negotiating and agreeing all subcontract final accounts
  • Attending pre-start meetings where required
  • Ensuring all Contract Documentation is in place, which includes:                                      
  • The agreement with the Client and agreed details
  • Bonds where applicable
  • Collateral Warranties where applicable
  • Appropriate& relevant insurances
  • & or any other contractual documentation as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • Minimum 7 years in the Construction Industry
  • Proven work experience and knowledge in a construction environment 
  • Performing the QS role on low to medium value contracts
  • Managing costs and delivering projects within budget
  • ​Experience of following Business Management Systems - H&S, Quality and Environmental
  • Minimum HNC in a relevant building/construction discipline
  • Negotiating skills
  • Ability to appoint acceptable subcontractors
  • Evaluate & price work in progress and completed works
