This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Crane Service Engineer to become a key player in a well established Engineering company. In this role you will contribute to all areas of the business and is suited to a ambitious individual who'd like to grow with the company. 

Main Responsibilities
  • Plan and perform on-site service functions as requested by the customer and authorised by the management. This may range from undertaking in-cell adjustments and service activities to full rebuilds of equipment. 
  • Provide training for client’s operators and engineers in the use, operation, fault finding, diagnostics and repair.
  • Maintain close contact with customers for engineering issues for all product lines and provide customer technical assistance, when required, via telephone or face-to-face meetings.
  • Ensure that all requirements for service and maintenance have been completed before leaving the customers facility. 
  • Perform failure analysis on service calls, using engineering personnel (as necessary) to determine cause of malfunction and coordinate with the customer.
  • Ensure that all personnel in the team work in a safe manner and comply with defined statutory and company, local Health and Safety rules and regulations at all times. 
  • Perform inspections and certificates for applicable equipment to appropriate and corresponding inspection code
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions and convey requirements of the documents to the assigned team members when required.
  • Ensure that all personnel working on assigned tasks are trained in the requirements and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure that required PPE is worn at all times and is maintained and replaced as required.
  • Assist in the delivery of training courses (once suitably qualified) to client operators and engineers(D32 Assessor).
  • Manufacture and modification of parts as required for site use, to Quality grade 2 using engineering tooling such as Milling machines, centre lathes, drills, saws etc.
  • Work with customers to find and engineer solutions to their operational and maintenance problems, assisting with the design, manufacture and implementation of the solutions.
  • Interface with customers to explore potential improvements to be incorporated into new designs or to existing designs.
  • Identify further business opportunities and assist with achieving further sales.
About You
  • Experienced in servicing and maintaining cranes and handling systems
  • Be able and willing to work in nuclear facilities, and able to obtain security access to nuclear installations
  • Able to read engineering drawings and interpret engineering specifications
  • Have strong fault finding abilities
  • Be capable with modern IT systems e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Have excellent written or oral communication skills
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally
  • Ambition to grow with the company

Skills and Qualifications
  • Full apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 or more years' post apprenticeship experience in a field service or high end maintenance role
  • HNC or HND in Mechanical discipline (ONC Minimum)
  • NVQ level 3 in Maintenance Operations or Plant Engineering
  • SQEP to work on nuclear sites
